This year's clergy continuing education retreat, titled AI and the Orthodox Faith: Pastoral & Theological Dimensions, will be held from Mid-Day Tuesday to Mid-Day Thursday, 10-12 June 2025, at St. Tikhon's Seminary.
Gathered clergy will review and discuss pertinent topics related to the advent of Artificial Intelligence in the broader society and its inevitable intersection with Orthodox Christian thinking. Moderated discussions will use several core topics from the PHAICON (Post-Humanism and Artificial Intelligence Conference) in Athens, Greece, organized by the Saint Maxim the Greek Institute in November 2024, as a launchpad for pastoral reflection and interdisciplinary exploration.
Tentative topics may include:
- Artificial Intelligence and the Risks of Idolatry
- AI and the Orthodox Understanding of Personhood
- The Future of Ethical Decision-Making
- ...and much more!
We will be joined by Reverend Deacon Gabriel Otte of the Antiochian Archdiocese, who will moderate and guide the discussions with a wealth of education and professional experience in the biotechnology industry.
