Biography
MARY FORD, Ph. D., Associate Professor of New Testament, is a graduate of Hollins College in Virginia, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature, and the University of Kent in England, where she earned her Doctor of Philosophy degree in Theology. She also received the diploma for A.M.I. Montessori training (international certification) in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Mary has written a number of articles in the field of Scriptural studies, including "An Orthodox View of Biblical Criticism" in Sourozh, "Towards the Restoration of Allegory" and "Seeing But Not Perceiving: Crisis in Context in Biblical Studies" in St. Vladimir's Theological Quarterly, and an article on the Revelation of John in Sourozh, as well as book reviews and various articles on other topics. In addition, with her husband Dr. David Ford she co-authored the book. Marriage as a Path to Holiness: Lives of Married Saints (published by St. Tikhon's Seminary Press). She has also given a number of lectures relating to this topic, most recently at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church in Worcester, Mass.
Dr. Mary has been teaching on the Faculty of St. Tikhon's Orthodox Theological Seminary, along with her husband, since 1989. In addition to all their work at the Seminary and their scholarly publications, they have also developed and published a lengthy history curriculum for Orthodox parochial and home schools, which is being used by more than 200 families throughout the country in the shaping of the minds of their children.
