Seminarian Christopher Mescher
Meet Christopher Mescher
Christopher Michael Mescher is a third-year seminarian at St. Tikhon’s Seminary and a member of the Class of 2026. He was born near Cleveland, Ohio, and raised in central Ohio. He graduated from Brown University with degrees in Linguistics and Mathematics.
Raised Roman Catholic, Christopher began his studies at the Pontifical College Josephinum, a Roman Catholic seminary, after graduating from Brown University. He remained there for several years, completing a Bachelor of Philosophy while discovering Orthodoxy. He began attending St. Gregory of Nyssa Orthodox Church in Columbus, Ohio, in the Orthodox Church in America’s Diocese of the Midwest, where he was eventually received into the Orthodox Church.
Before coming to St. Tikhon’s, Christopher worked as a bartender and in information technology while completing a master’s degree in Computer Science. In his free time, he enjoys music, especially playing bass guitar. He is currently working to complete his thesis on the Orthodox reception of the concept of transubstantiation.
When asked what he loves about St. Tikhon's, Christopher says:
“I love the dedication that the faculty and staff have to the students here. It’s easy for anyone to see that everyone really cares and loves what they do.”
