Seminarian Ignatius Leonardo

Ignatius Leonardo is a third-year seminarian at St. Tikhon’s Seminary. He was born and raised in New Jersey and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Classical History from Rutgers University in the spring of 2023. After graduating, he came to St. Tikhon’s Seminary in the fall of 2023 to continue his studies. His home parish is St. John the Baptist Russian Orthodox Church in Rahway, New Jersey, which is part of the American Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese.

Asked about his time at St. Tikhon’s, Ignatius says his vocation to serve Christ’s Church has been supported and nurtured throughout his years at the seminary. He explains that the emphasis on fully living out the liturgical life of the Church has been vital to his formation as a servant of Christ’s vineyard.

Ignatius also describes the opportunity to travel with the St. Tikhon’s Mission Choir as a true blessing. Visiting vibrant parish communities across multiple states and Orthodox jurisdictions has had a profound impact on his formation. He is deeply appreciative of the spiritual support provided by the generous people he has met on these trips. He says his life, and the lives of many other seminarians, have been positively impacted through these experiences. Looking ahead, Ignatius hopes to serve Christ’s Church diligently in whatever capacity God wills, using the skills and virtues he has gained during his time at seminary.
