Meet Andrew John Barrett

John Barrett is a first-year seminarian at St. Tikhon’s Seminary. He comes from St. Alexander Nevsky Orthodox Cathedral in Allison Park, Pennsylvania, in the Diocese of Western Pennsylvania. He is currently single and comes from a loving family of five.
Reflecting on the years before seminary, John says he studied music in his hometown of Lock Haven, Pennsylvania. He went on to build a career performing on violin and as a vocalist, teaching music lessons, and directing a church choir. Over time, it was his love for the Church's services and parish life that inspired him to pursue seminary.

When asked about his experience at St. Tikhon's, John says the love of God carries him through as he sets himself to his daily duties. His classes are challenging and helpful in grounding his mind in the understanding of the Holy Tradition of the Church.
When asked what he loves about St. Tikhon's, John says:
“Life at St. Tikhon’s is a blessing and a joy. Grace permeates the environment in a powerful way. I love the regular Church services which allow a unique opportunity for me to draw especially close to the Liturgy. I can sense this molding my heart in a special way. ”
