What is the purpose of the St. Tikhon’s Mission Choir?

The Mission Choir shares the life and mission of St. Tikhon’s Seminary through the liturgical worship of the Church. Parish visits allow the faithful to meet and worship alongside seminarians, strengthen connections between the Seminary and Orthodox communities, and help raise support for the Seminary’s ongoing work.

When is the Mission Choir available for parish visits?

The Mission Choir is available for parish visits throughout the academic year. Because trips are arranged several months in advance, parishes interested in hosting the Choir are encouraged to begin planning early.

What does a Mission Choir parish visit include?

Mission Choir visits typically include singing the responses for Vespers and Divine Liturgy at the host parish. The Dean frequently accompanies the Choir and may offer a presentation about St. Tikhon’s Seminary during the visit. Fellowship following the services gives parishioners an opportunity to meet and speak with the seminarians and learn more about the life and mission of the Seminary.

St. Tikhon’s Mission Choir

St. Tikhon's Mission Choir is a choral group from St. Tikhon's Seminary dedicated to God through the Church's primary evangelistic and teaching tool: Her Liturgical worship. The Mission Choir strives to bring life, invigoration, and inspiration to the parishes which are visited throughout the year. Not only do parishioners interact with and see Seminarians who are attempting to follow the call of the Lord, but this interaction also puts a real human face on an institution that has been providing the Church in America with Her clergy and many lay leaders for over eighty years. The Mission Choir raises funds for the work of the Seminary, which primarily relies on donations from the Church and Her faithful to continue its work for the Church in America.
